occupy wall street: a view on 10/11/11

BH + I visited the corner of cedar and broadway. otherwise know as Zuccoti Park and formerly known as Liberty Plaza Park.  it borders the site of the world trade centers. the freedom towers are going up. and a lot of people have taken over. I would be lying if i didn't admit i started off cynical about the occupy wall street movement.  When the NYPD got mean (this is an interesting article about the complicated relationship between OWS + the NYPD) and my union (UAW) got behind it, I gave it a second look. I really liked what I saw.

a few things to read: fooda message, and the media blackout is over, if you live in NY visit and support. If you don't...find an occupy movement near you (a few cities you can find them in are san fran, boston, D.C.  + Atlanta) and go say hi. You'll be happy you did.

BH commented that it was amazing that we were standing next to the freedom towers (i am not capturing her words as well as she spoke them)...that this movement was taking place where we were standing in the world.  it is about the freedom to question. not everyone has the same opportunities in this country and the same ability to question and challenge. this is about having a conversation.

BH in shock by all the amazingness we were lucky enough to see

dancing to the beat of the drummers
