eating our way through Barcelona and Mallorca: Spain

SK and I just returned from visiting DR in Barcelona. It was an amazing trip. Each day we walked for hours and hours (and hours and hours. literally). We spent time with Daniel's friends in Barcelona and on day trips out of the city.  It was really fabulous.  We also ate a lot. Food was a very important part of our trip, so to start off I'm going to share some pictures of our food and drink adventures.  Taking pictures of food is not my strong point, but you'll get the idea, I hope!
When I am not so tired I will share more of our adventures.

Cava was something of a staple. We started our trip the first morning with this toast and ended the trip with a toast, compliments of Daniel.

Our first pan con tomate. We ate this at almost every meal.
We also tasted a lot of sangria.

This was the first of three vegetarian restaurants we went to in Barcelona.

on Saturday we went to a Barca game. It was so cool. They don't serve beer at games so we had one stop to make on our way to the stadium. They certainly like their candy in Barcelona.

vegetarian restaurant #2. Theresa Carlos. It was delicious.

Our first paella
This night started so well.

Then Daniel spilled sangria on his white shirt and Sandeep thought he could bite through an olive pit. The olive pit won and his tooth broke.

after hike cupcakes.

after the root canal the first thing we did was...eat.

The third vegetarian restaurant. This place was amazing - we  got the tasting menu and it was a really special meal.

The bar enders here (Marco and Matt) are real artists. They made us very special drinks, and even created a new one for Sandeep.
They were also so nice they gave us some of their dinner so we did not have to leave!

After walking around the mountain towns in Mallorca we sat down at this cafe next to the bus station

We had to try sangria with cava one time.  After walking around Palma for about 5 hours it seemed just right!

a toast with cava and hand picked oranges from Mallorca
Our final delicious meal
